Townsville Airport has daily flights from all major Australian cities, and is located a short 7-minute drive from the town centre. Flight times from other cities are:

  • Brisbane – Townsville: 2hr 5min
  • Sydney – Townsville: 2hr 45min
  • Melbourne – Townsville: 3hr 5min
  • Cairns – Townsville: 1 hour

By Road

Townsville is a 347km from Cairns a 4 hour 30 minute drive from Cairns, or you can drive from Brisbane 1,352km and explore the beauty of Queensland over a couple of days.

By Rail

Queensland Rail Travel runs regular services from Brisbane and Cairns to Townsville.

Airport Shuttle

The Airport Shuttle provides a pick-up and drop off service from the airport to/from city hotels and the Magnetic Island Ferry Terminal for all major flights seven days per week. Major car-rental agencies are represented in Townsville and at the airport.

Taxis

The Taxi Rank is located at the arrivals end of the airport terminal.  There are also Taxi ranks located through out the Townsville CBD.  To book a phone 138294.  Wheelchair accessible taxis can be organised by Townsville Kerbside Concierge or when you book.

Uber – Ride Share

The Ride Share collection point is located within the rental carpark at the arrivals end of the airport terminal.  Uber operates in Townsville and can be booked via the smartphone app.
